In today's competitive world of wedding and event planning, organizations, venues and vendors need wedding and event professionals who have an insider’s view and understanding of how their specific business contributes to the delivery of a successful wedding or social event.
Therefore, programs that provide a glimpse into "life in the real world" are critical. To complement the academic experience students of LWPI explore the opportunity of creating and participating in a custom internship to meet their career goals and objectives.
Internships
Each qualified student participates in a learning experience to identify and help to develop the internship experience to meet their needs. Each internship is anywhere from a few days or weeks to several months. An internship can be a shadowing experience, a hands-on experience and in some cases lead to a job. Students also receive academic credit for each completed internship.
Students are responsible for all expenses related to the internship, including travel, accommodations (if any), meals, etc. Interns are chosen by the intern host or sponsor. |
 |
Students along with the internship site supervisor and the assigned LWPI faculty member will determine internship goals and objectives prior to a learning contract being implemented. Each internship program includes a standard for evaluating expectations and overall internship outcome.
Students can also elect to be assigned or placed into an internship by participating in our career center services.
