Unforgettable Experience |

This course has truly been an eye opener. I had no idea that the passion I had for the wedding and event industry could grow to be so much more. I've been working with wedding planners for the past 5 years now, and enrolled in this course to better myself and my education. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I have learned so many beneficial concepts and tools that I know I will use in the future.
This year, I was fortunate enough to meet Preston Bailey at a special VIP event held in Virginia Beach. He spoke about his work and the lessons he has learned along the way. He even signed my book! It was such an honor to meet him and I plan to enroll in his design course once I finish my CWEP course.
I would absolutely recommend this course to anyone looking to further their career in the field and gain valuable information to help them become a better planner.
Warm Regards,
Brittany Cooper

Start Off Your New Life With a Rush |

I was sitting with the Maid of Honor for a friend's wedding and we were chatting about what she wanted to do for the Bride's Bachelorette party. She had nailed down that Taverna Opa in Orlando, FL is a fun place to go and has amazing Greek food. After bouncing a few ideas back and forth I threw out the idea to play on the Greek theme and turn the bride's party into a Sorority bash that is exclusive to friends and family.
The details of it I fleshed out are below. It was quite the evening to remember.
Anticipation: Invite sent as if the attendees would be rushing
a Greek Serority (of Bride’s initials).
Arrival:
Guests are brought into the frat house (MOH) & given paperwork to fill out
while enjoying Greek style appetizers, drinks, and the bride’s signature drink.
(Get to know you puzzles)
Atmosphere:
Upon completion of paperwork guests are given Greek shirts & take the oath.
A limo to Taverna Opa will await them to take the party to dinner while music
plays and drink abound.
Amusement:
In the limo, guests are given curses as a hazing to enact during dinner (random toasts to the bride, phrases to proclaim, and ways to eat food). After
dinner, drinks and the limo ride back to the Sorority house, wedding/engagement/greek stye movies will be shown into the night.
Appetite:
Taverna Opa has many packages ranging from individual entrees and drinks to
family style Greek food for everybody to share and plenty of Greek Ouzo.
Appreciation: Guests can take home their hurricane
glasses and tshirts to wear at further social get-togethers.
***Vendors:
A1 Elite Transportation. Greek101.com. Harry & David. Publix. Kinkos. Tavern
Opa.

Taking the CWEP online course to recieve my Wedding and Event Planing Certification has been great. I have gained a true working knowledge of having a Wedding and Event Planning business. I will be taking my final exam soon and am on my way to becoming a certified event planner and owner of my own business. I made the right choice when I decided to get my certification with LWPI! So excited about the future!!!

What (or who) inspired me to be a wedding planner/designer |
Posted By Lisa Chandler,

My 20 and 13 year old daughters begged me to watch a new show with them because they said I would LOVE it! So I sat with them for what I didn't realize at the time was a life-changing experience. The show we watched was, "My Fair Wedding with David Tutera." It happened to be a marathon so I sat there all day watching. As I watched him turn lack-luster wedding plans into jawdropping events, I knew thats what I should be doing. I have an arts background...I have been a successful muralist, have written, directed, and designed sets and costumes for 4 successful plays.
Though I have done all of those things my first priority was as homemaker. Which is a good thing because it allowed me the flexibility to develop my skills and talents in many different areas. As I watched David, I realized that since my children are older, there's no reason why I can't follow my dreams of doing something great! Within a week I signed up to take the wedding planning and event certification course. Its been uphill from there. I suppose my reputation surpassed me because as soon as people got wind that I was going into the wedding industry...everyone I knew (and some I didn't) who had children getting married started calling wanting me to design their kids' wedding.
Let me backtrack a little...in March 2011 (about 2 months after watching MFW for the first time), I learned that David T. would be appearing at a bridal show nearly 2 hours away from my home. I decided to take the trip in hopes of getting the chance just to say thank you to him. I contacted the shows director and explained my reason for wanting to meet David. She was so touched that she contacted his assistant and arranged a private meeting for me to get the chance to chat with David. He was truly touched as well, but not nearly as much as I was, at his example of kindness, caring and generosity. He really is a genuinely nice guy.
Wedding design/planning will allow me to utilize all of the skills I've acquired over the years to bring joy into the lives of others. I strongly believe that those of us who have such gifts should use them to the best of our ability because we never know who we may inspire in the process-just as David unknowingly inspired me.

This was a beautiful September wedding in the Lakes Region of NH and the weather was perfect. It was a shining example of how an economical budget can still result in an incredible day. Although the pictures can't do the day justice, I hope you enjoy!

Happily Ever After Wedding |

I recently planned and coordinated a Happily Ever After wedding. The wedding was October 2011 at a old beautiful villa in the hills. Each table had white linens, fine china, a horse drawn carriage picture frame as place cards, and beautiful red rose in the center. The couple was taken from the ceremony to the reception in a horse drawn carriage. Their wedding cake was a giant cupcake with a small cupcake on top of it. At the end of the night, the remaining guests lined up and blew bubbles as the couple made their grand exit to their big white limo. And they lived happily ever after.

Colorful Brides |

Brides are starting to incorporate color into their wadrobe on their wedding day. Most people will wear bright colored shoes or have a belt add a splash of color to the otherwise white attire. One new trend is actually having a dress of color. Take a look at this article that shows how women are making bold changes!

An easy way to create a signature look for a wedding is
through the wedding fashion, so instead of looking through traditional bridal
shops for bridesmaids dresses try looking through regular dress shops or
specialty boutiques. This can also be very cost effective and ensure that no
other bride has the same wedding fashion as you do! Here are a few dresses found on modcloth.com all under
$200.00 and with wedding themes in mind:

This is a Ocean theme wedding that I planned and designed. (The wedding just took place on this X'mas) During the cocktail hour, I used many real shells, candles, green orchids, sands, glass vases, white coral and pearls in the whole ballroom. The candlelight wasso nice and beautifull all night long! . I had an amazing time planning that wedding! I think it is a great idea to use the same signature items at the ceremony & reception! |

Winter Wedding |

This is a winter wedding that I planned. It might be hard to see in the photo's but there are lanturns lined up down the isle. (The wedding just took place, so I only have my cell phone pictures right now!) During the cocktail hour, I brought in a couple lanturns and re-used them in the reception ballroom. The lanturns played the role as the "wedding theme". They looked so pretty that we wanted to see that candlelight all night long! Two lanturns were even placed behind the cake. The colors were red, black & silver. I had an amazing time planning that wedding! I think it is a great idea to use the same signature items at the ceremony & reception!
